Firing Powell

Could Trump Fire Powell? What It Might Mean for the Market

I'm shooting this before the close today because we’ve got our Total Earnings Domination live training and Office Hours this afternoon, but I had to quickly break down some market-moving chatter.

The market tried to push lower today, but so far, it’s rebounded to about flat by midday. The buzz? Reports that Trump may have drafted a resignation letter for Fed Chair Jerome Powell—though nothing official has happened… yet.

Here’s why this matters: If Powell steps down and Trump installs someone more aligned with his views, we’d likely see more aggressive rate cuts. That would probably trigger higher inflation, and that could push up assets like stocks, metals, real estate and other physical goods.

It’s all speculation for now, but if it happens, it could move quickly, which means there’d be a pretty small window to jump on the bandwagon, buy some calls and get long the market. Stay tuned.
